Sambutan Dekan Fakultas Kedokteran

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

All praises and thanks be to Allah SWT, who has bestowed on us His many blessings. Peace and blessings be upon our Master Prophet Muhammad SAW.

Founded as YARSI Medical School in 1969, YARSI University’s Faculty of Medicine will be 46 years old this year. For a man in his forties, this is the time when he reaches his full potential and finds that he can do a lot of great things for the common good. However, in terms of civilization time-span, YARSI University’s Faculty of Medicine (FKUY) is still in the early stages of rebuilding the Islamic civilization, especially in the field of medicine.

Islamic medicine is basically the practice of a devout Muslim who applies Islamic values in his daily life as a doctor. Therefore FKUY tries to build an Islamic environment and atmosphere in all academic activities, such as in the way of dressing, work ethics, and social interactions. FKUY has even added ‘Muslim doctor’ as one of the additional local competencies for FKUY graduates. The faculty believes that a Muslim with a good faith, right devotion, and strong characters will make an intelligent, professional, independent, disciplined, wholesome, and beneficent doctor.

We complement the character building of Muslim doctors with state-of-the-art facilities. All academic activities of FKUY are conducted at YARSI Tower. The Faculty of Medicine uses 7 amphitheater lecture halls, 25 clinical skills laboratories and 52 tutorial rooms to support the curriculum with problem-based learning methods. To facilitate medical research that can be beneficial to society, FKUY is also equipped with basic medical sciences laboratories including the Integrated Biomedical Laboratory on the 11th floor. Clerkship is conducted at  Gunung Jati Hospital Cirebon as a major teaching hospital.

Academic activities are organized by the Centre for Medical Education staffed by experts on the development of medical education. The quality of the organization and the management of academic activities are monitored internally by the Academic Audit Section and accredited by BAN-PT (A accreditation) and SAI Global for ISO 9001: 2000. In the last 3 years the faculty has facilitated 21 lecturers in pursuing S3 degree and has received a research grant of up to Rp. 1 billion in an effort to improve the quality of the teaching staff.

The faculty continuously makes efforts to improve the quality of education and human resources. It also strives for accomplishments and to maintain public trust, all the while seeking a balance between the character development of Muslim physicians and the physical development. The harmony is needed so that the two go hand in hand in advancing Islamic medicine as our contribution in the renaissance of Islam.
